Dustin Lance Black, who worked hard in his quest to bring Harvey Milk's life to the big screen is being honored by the Writers Guild of America West.
Black, who's nominated for the WGA award for original screenplay is going to receive the Paul Selvin Award.
The Selvin Award is given to writers whose works examine civil rights issues.
"Milk" is a fitting tribute to Harvey Milk, a gay rights pioneer!
WGA West president Patric Verrone revealed to Variety:
“Lance Black's script reminds us that all it takes is a single spark to light the fuse of an entire movement.”
The WGA awards will be this Saturday at the Century Plaza hotel. Congratulations Mister Dustin!

What is going on with Christian Bale? First he was accused of beating up his mommy, now, he goes off on the director of photography of his upcoming flick, "Terminator Salvation."
Apparently, Shane Hurlbut, the poor guy who received all of Bale's anger, accidentally ruined a scene by walking onto the set!
And after listening to the audio recording? You would not want to make Bale angry. Batman turned into Hulk! Big, mean, green with anger!
Our friend Nikki Finke of Deadline Hollywood Daily checked the authenticity of the recording for all of us. It's authentic alright, and her source says:
"Christian and the DP are all good now. It happened. It was one isolated event. He regrets that he lost his temper."
The next time I meet Bale in one of the press junkets, I'll put on my best behavior! But he was soooo sweet when I met him for "The Prestige."
Want to listen to the recording? Just be warned, lots of F bombs all over the place, so it may not be suitable for work!
But here it is.

Singer-songwriter Robyn Hitchcock is planning to turn "Magnum Force" into a full-blown musical!
"Magnum Force" is, of course, the 1973 sequel of "Dirty Harry" and Hitchcock, an obsessive fan, wants to turn this shoot 'em up to a song and dance extravaganza!
According to the Guardian:
Plans are reportedly afoot for the 1973 sequel to Dirty Harry, in which Clint Eastwood hunts down a vigilante cop with a penchant for murdering gangsters, to be turned into an all-singing, all-dancing production. It would follow in the footsteps of rather more comprehensible conversions such as Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Dirty Dancing, Sunset Boulevard and the world-conquering Billy Elliot.
"It's a film that seemed to be on all the time when I was on tour," he said. "By the fifth time [I saw it], I became addicted to it. It's taken a very strange hold on my life."
Now keep in mind, it's just a planned stage musical for now, but I would love to see Clint Eastwood's reactions!
But hey, Eastwood sang in "Gran Torino."

First of, if you guys haven't seen "JCVD" yet, what are you waiting for? It's actually a good film, with Van Damme poking fun at his celebrity stature.
Now, JCVD has confirmed to our friends at totalfilm.com that he is working on "Bloodsport 2," and he is calling it a TRUE sequel, not the other wannabe sequels namely "Bloodsport 2," "Bloodsport 3," and "Bloodsport: The Dark Kumite."
It is of interest to note that Van Damme wasn't part of any of those sequels!
The actor further says:
“You know, like, we’re gonna do Bloodsport 2...which was my first movie. And I want to do it now in a very mature way, where the guy from Bloodsport is a complete bum, maybe abusing his son."
Hhhhmmmm...a darker take? A mature angle? Wow, I just may see this one IF studios agree, but...
“They told me, ‘No, no, no! You cannot make a movie in America where a father is abusing his son physically! It’s wrong."
“And you cannot be a guy on drugs doing karate and shit like that.’ I said, ’Why? Why? Tell me why.’
"It’s against the rules of success. But I believe the other rules of success. To show something real.”
Will Van Damme succeed in getting the sequel based on his vision? Stay tuned, oh yeah, I love that he's trying to keep it real!
