"Iron Man 2" Soars at Box-Office with $133.6 Million Opening!

"Iron Man 2" enjoyed a super-heroic opening, earning $133.6 million domestically. Starring Robert Downey Jr. as billionaire-turned-super hero Tony Stark, the sequel beat the original film's $98.6 million debut in 2008 and is now holding the record of having the fifth-biggest opening weekend.

Overseas, "Iron Man 2" took in $194 million since it debuted last week, bringing its worldwide total to over $327 million. (Check out my movie review of "Iron Man 2" right here)

"Iron Man 2's" enormous opening failed to beat "The Dark Knight's" record of $158.4 in 2008 or "Spider-Man 3's" $151.1 million debut in 2007. The sequel also didn't surpass 2009's "The Twilight Saga: New Moon" with $142.8 million or 2006's "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" with $135.6 million.

Previous weekend's No. 1 flick, "A Nightmare on Elm Street" remake, fell sharply to No. 2 with $9.1 million, while DreamWorks Animation's "How to Train Your Dragon" held steadily at No. 3 with $6.7 million, bringing its total to $201 million.

The other new release this weekend, "Babies," enjoyed a $1.5 million opening in just 534 theaters. Way to go "Babies!" (Check out my movie review of "Babies" right here)

Here's the list of the Top 10 box office films, per estimates, for weekend of May 7th:

1. "Iron Man 2," $133.6 million.

2. "A Nightmare on Elm Street," $9.1 million.

3. "How to Train Your Dragon," $6.7 million.

4. "Date Night," $5.3 million.

5. "The Back-up Plan," $4.3 million.

6. "Furry Vengeance," $4 million.

7. "Clash of the Titans," $2.3 million.

8. "Death at a Funeral," $2.1 million.

9. "The Losers," $1.8 million.

10. "Babies," $1.5 million.

Anthony Hopkins to Play Evil Sorcerer in "Arabian Nights"

Anthony Hopkins is in final negotiations to play the villain in "Arabian Nights," The Hollywood Reporter exclusively learned. Chuck Russell is attached to direct the action-adventure from a script he co-wrote with Barry R. Ambrose.

Liam Hemsworth is set to play a young commander who joins Sinbad, Ali Baba and the Genie from the magic lamp to rescue Queen Scheherazade. Hopkins will star as Pharotu, a maniacal sorcerer who murdered Sinbad's love, a mermaid, and he wants more magic!

Production is set to start shooting end-of-summer.

Filipino Peeps! I Love "Balitang America" from The Filipino Channel (ABS-CBN)! They Gave Me Emmy Love!

As some of you may know, I'm not really Dutch but I'm a proud Filipino/American :happy

And as some of you may know, I'm on "Balitang America" every Friday. The show is the 30-minute nightly news program of ABS-CBN International. Aired at 5:05 PM PT / 8:05 PM ET on The Filipino Channel Mondays thru Fridays, Balitang America is the reliable resource of Filipinos in the United States and Canada for news stories, events, special reports and in-depth interviews. And the main anchor, Gel Santos-Relos is a super-sweet angel who's great on-camera and equally great off-camera.

"Balitang America" is nationwide and worldwide y'all! So all my cousins and families and friends from all over the world can see me. Check out their website right here.

But I'm sharing this news with you today because I didn't know that last week, when I reviewed "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Miss Santos-Relos gave me love. I'm one of the nominees for Best On-Cam Talent for our Regional Emmy (Pacific Southwest), so yay! I know it's cliche, but just to be nominated is truly an honor! (Check the complete list of nominees right here)

So thank you Miss Gel and Balitang America for being so sweet and nice to me, and please keep your fingers crossed that I get that darn Emmy when the awards are given out June 26th.

Marami pong salamat!
