Yes, it has Oscars written all over it, at least based on the trailer. It has great Oscar pedigree starting with Daniel Day-Lewis as Lincoln, Tommy Lee Jones as Thaddeus Stevens, and Sally Field as Mary Todd Lincoln. Not to mention Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Robert Todd Lincoln, Jared Harris as Ulysses S. Grant, James Spader as WN Bilbo, John Hawkes as Robert Latham, and David Straithairn as Secretary of State William Seward. It's based, in part, on the book by Doris Kearns Goodwin and adapted by Tony Kushner. Oh yeah, and it's directed by a little-known director named Steven Spielberg. We'll see if this has Spielberg's magic when "Lincoln" opens on November 16.
For now, let's take a look at the new trailer:
Here's the synopsis from Yahoo:
Synopsis
Steven Spielberg helms his long-in-the-making biopic of Abraham Lincoln for DreamWorks and Touchstone Pictures. Daniel Day-Lewis portrays the former head of state in the Tony Kushner-penned adaptation of Doris Kearns Goodwin's book, TEAM OF RIVALS, which chronicles the President's time in office between 1861 and 1865 as he dealt with personal demons and politics during the Civil War.
