
The 24th Annual Palm Springs International Film Festival (PSIFF) is currently underway. And it’s in my hood! I live in the lovely Coachella Valley, and the Film Festival is surely one of our biggest highlights of the year! This is important, not only in the valley, but also in Hollywood. The Film Festival is one of the major stops on the road to Oscar glory. And this awards season, there are many sure-fire Oscar contenders that are visiting our lovely Palm Springs for the red carpet gala happening on Saturday, January 5th. I will be live on the red carpet to interview stars such as Ben Affleck, Bradley Cooper, Sally Field, Helen Hunt, and much, much more! The Writers Guild of America has announced nominations for the 2013 Writers Guild Awards honoring outstanding achievement in writing for the screen. And I'm sooo happy that Stephen Chbosky, who also wrote the book and directed "The Perks of Being a Wallflower," is nominated for the Adapted Screenplay category.
Some of the usual suspects this awards season made the cut such as "Moonrise Kingdom" (another yay!), "The Master," "Zero Dark Thirty," "Argo," "Lincoln," and "Silver Linings Playbook." Missing are "Django Unchained," "Beasts of the Southern Wild," and "Les Miserables."
We'll find out who will win the 2013 Writers Guild Awards on Sunday, February 17th.
