Will Robert Pattinson Star As Finnick Odair for "Hunger Games" Sequel "Catching Fire?"

A word of caution -- this is currently a rumor, but a fun rumor nonetheless. According to TotalFilm by way of ThinkMcFlyThink, Lionsgate is furiously courting the "Twilight" star to take on the role of Finnick Odair, an ex-tribute who loves the ladies and gets dragged into the Third Quarter Quell -- the best of the best of the Hunger Games featuring previous winners, hence Katniss (Jennifer Lawrence) and Peeta (Josh Hutcherson) back in the ring.

So, here are the reasons why this rumor could be true:

First, Lionsgate is now the home of Summit Entertainment, the studio that "Twilight" built.

Second, "Catching Fire" will be directed by Francis Lawrence, the guy who gave us "Water for Elephants" starring Pattinson and Reese Witherspoon.

Could be a possibility, perhaps exciting? Pattinson will have the privilege of starring in two teenage-driven franchises, "Twilight" as Edward Cullen, and maybe "The Hunger Games" as Finnick Odair.

June 29 Release Date Changes -- Goodbye "G.I. Joe: Retaliation," Hello "Ted!"

So, we told you that Paramount is pushing the release date of "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" from June 29th to March 29th, 2013 because the studio wants to transform the sequel from 2D to 3D. (See Sorry "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" Fans -- You Have to Wait 9 More Months! Why Did Paramount Change Release Date?)

Now, Dateline is reporting that the much talked about R-rated comedy, "Ted," will slide into the spot that "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" has vacated. Universal will now release "Ted" on June 29th.

Directed by Seth MacFarlane, "Ted" is about the cuddly but cursing teddy bear voiced by "The Family Guy" creator himself. MacFarlane also wrote and produced the movie starring Mark Wahlberg and Mila Kunis. A Universal insider tells Dateline, “The movie has had so much buzz since the minute the trailers were released that we’ve been looking to see if there was an earlier date available."

And why not? "Ted" looks funny and gasp, whimsical in a weird sort of way. Now, the foul-mouthed teddy bear will compete against Channing Tatum and Matthew McConaughey's male stripper movie, "Magic Mike," from director Steven Soderbergh.

Sorry "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" Fans -- You Have to Wait 9 More Months! Why Did Paramount Change Release Date?

We were all getting ready to watch "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" on June 29th, but then, Paramount decided the last-minute to change the sequel's release date exactly 9 more months (like birthing a baby) to March 29, 2013.

Why? Deadline tells us that it's because of that really irritating reason -- to add 3D!

One of the studio execs told Deadline, “We’re going to do a conscientious 3D job because we’ve seen how it can better box office internationally...Jim Cameron did all of Titanic‘s 3D in post – and look how well that movie turned out.” Um, but that was "Titanic!"

In recent memory, Paramount had done this date-change-thingie before and it worked to the studio's advantage! Martin Scorsese's "Shutter Island" was delayed. The result? The director's biggest hit ever! And supposedly, March is a perfect month to release a movie according to the studio. Remember "The Hunger Games?" Yes, that one was released on March 23rd of this year.

So now, we all have to wait before we see Channing Tatum, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Bruce Willis in action for director John Chu. But I wonder what's the real reason behind the date change?

Could it be that Paramount is afraid to go head-to-head with another Tatum-starrer, the male-stripper dramedy "Magic Mike?" Because if I had to pick, I'd watch "Magic Mike" first, then "G.I. Joe: Retaliation" second. But now, we're free to admire Steven Soderbergh's upcoming flick.

"Men in Black III" Movie Review -- How Many Kisses Do Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, and Josh Brolin Get?

“Men in Black” takes a cue from “Back to the Future” for the franchise’s third installment. This one’s a time-traveling romp and I’m happy to report that it’s a journey worth taking.

“Men in Black III” was plagued with production problems namely script rewrites and reshoots. I had no faith for the threequel but to my amazement, my doubts were erased just like how the movie’s neuralyzer would. Read More...
